Luke Chapter 3 (Expounded)

Luke Chapter 3

1) Now... Now that I have brought you this far in my narrative, Theophilus, I will tell you that...

in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar... the second Roman emperor whose name means 'from the Tiber',or, "god-river"...,

At the time that Pontius Pilate was governor of the province of Iudea, and when Herod was... and when the son of Herod the Great and a Samaritan woman named Malthace, who was surnamed "Antipas", was appointed by the Romans as...

a tetrarch... 5075 tetrarcheo {tet-rar-kheh'-o} - one of four governors in the area of Palestine...

who was responsible for the region of Galilee... 1056 Galilaia {gal-il-ah'-yah} - "circuit" - the name of a region of northern Palestine boundaried on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolomais and their territories and the high point of land that projects into the sea known as Carmel. This region was divided into Upper Galilee and Lower Galilee...

and when his brother, named Philip, was assigned by the Romans to be a tetrarch of Iturea... 2484 Itouraia {ee-too-rah'-yah} - "past the limits", or, "he will arrange" - a mountainous region lying northeast of Palestine and west of Damascus...

and the region of Trachonitis... 5139 {trakh-o-nee'-tis} - "a rugged region" - a rough region of wilderness inhabited by robbers that was situated between Antilibanus on the west and east by the mountains of Batanaea and on the north by the territory of Damascus...,

and when Lysanias was... 3078 Lusanias {loo-san-ee'-as} - "that drives away" - a tetrarch of the district... of Abilene... 9 {ab-ee-lay-nay'} - "grassy meadow" - a region of Syria between Lebanon and Hermon towards Phoenicia located 18 miles (29 Kilometers) from Damascus and Heliopolis in a gorge named "Suk Wadi Barada"... Lusanias was tetrarch beginning in the thirteenth year of Tiberias (approx. A.D.29)...

2) During the same time that Annas... 452 {an'-nas} - "humble"... and Caiaphas... 2533 Kaiaphas {kah-ee-af'-as} - Aramaic for "as comely"... were the high priests assigned by Rome. It was then that the word of Yahweh came to Yochanan, the son of Zacharias, while he was in the wilderness... 2048 eremos {er'-ay-mos} - While he was in the desert... while he was in the lonely, uninhabited, uncultivated, uncivilized regions of Iudaea...

*** Historical Note regarding the years and appointments of men to the office of High Priest for Israel by Roman officials at the time when Yochanan received word from Yahuah to begin his declarations and prepare the way for the face of Yahuah to be received... Sometime between 6 or 7 A.D. when Annas was High Priest, and 18 - 36 A.D., when Caiaphas had that office :

*** Annas was a high priest of the Jews who was elevated to that position by Qirinus, the governor of Syria, circa 6 or 7 A.D. He was afterward deposed by Valerius Gratus, the Roman procurator, or Governor of Iudaea who replaced Annas with Ismael, the son of Phabi; and then shortly afterward, Eleazer, the son of Annas.

After Eleazer, the office of high priest was assigned to Simon, the son of Camith.

From Simon, circa 18 A.D., the office of High Priest was assigned to Caiaphas by Valerius Gratus, after he had removed Simon...

It is noteworthy that Pilate was procurator of Iudea circa 27-37 A.D. He did not replace the High Priest, Caiaphas, during that time...

Caiaphas was removed from that office circa A.D. 36 by Vitellius, the governor of Syria at that time, who appointed Yonathan the son of Ananus as his successor... Ananus - was Annus, the father-in-law of Caiaphas, ...

3) Yochanan came to all the country surrounding the Jordan... 2446 Iordanes {ee-or-dan'-ace} - from the Hebrew 3383 Yarden {yar-dane'} - "the descender" - the one river of Palestine. It has a course length of 200 miles (about 320 km.) from the roots of Anti-Lebanon to the Dead Sea...,

preaching... 2784 kerusso {kay-roos'-so} - proclaiming publically, in the manner of an offical messenger...,

the necessity for the baptism... 908 baptisma {bap'-tis-mah} - the necessity for the immersion or submersion... a voluntary purification ritual by which men/women of Israel, upon the recognition and confession of their sins or sinful disposition toward Yahuah, were bound by their actions toward a spiritual reformation...

a more appropriate word usage, in Hebrew, would be in regard to the use of a mikva... 4724 miqvah {mik-vaw'} - a water retention reservoir of some kind, for even lakes and rivers are considered mikvas. However, it is usually a structure that is man made, for spiritual purification and renewal purposes... in any case, the cause that Yochanan declared for these rituals was the necessity...

of... for...

repentance... 3341 matanoia {met-an'-oy-a} - a changing of ones mind, as it appears to someone who repents, regarding a purpose that has been formed or something that has been done...

for the remission of sins... 859 aphesis {af'-es-is} - for the forgiveness or pardon for having sinned; and release from the bondage of indebtedness to Yahuah that they had brought upon themselves for having sinned, which required the shedding of blood if such indebtedness was never pardoned by Yahuah...

The hebrew term that would have been appropriately used to describe what Yochanan was calling all of Israel to do is 7725 shuwb {shoob} - from which the word teshuva comes from - which more accurately describes the calling of Yochanan the Immerser to cause the people of Israel to turn back, or return to the way of thinking, feeling, making decisions, and behaving in regard to Yahuah that should have always been for Israel...

For an example of this exhortation toward what is meant by "repentance" see Ezekiel 18:23-32... especially verses 30-32... Also, see Ezekiel 14:6-11...

Ezekiel 18:23-32 23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? says Yahuah Elohim; and not that he should return from his ways, and live? 24 But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and committs iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, then shall he live? All his righteousness that he has done shall not be mentioned. For it is in his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them will he die. 25 Yet you say: The way of Yahuah is not equal...You say: that the Way of Yahuah is not fair... Hear now, O house of Israel! Is not my way equal? Are not your ways the ones that are unequal? 26 When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquities, and dies in them. It is for his iniquity that he has done that he will die. 27 Again... another example of the difference..., when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. 28 Because he considers, and turns away from all of his transgressions that he has committed, he shall surely live. He shall not die. 29 Yet, says the house of Israel: The way of Yahuah is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? Are not your ways the ones that are unequal?... By these considerations alone have I not pointed out the differences and proven this to you?... 30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, says Yahuah Elohim. Repent, and turn yourselves away from all your transgressions so that iniquity shall not be your ruin. 31 Cast away from yourselves all your transgressions, whereby you have transgressed; and make for yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why will you die, O house of Israel? 32 For, says Yahuah Elohim: I have no pleasure in the death of anyone that dies. So why would you not return yourselves to where you should be and live?

Ezekiel 14:6-11 6 Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says Yahuah Elohim: Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations. 7 For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourns in Israel, who separates himself from me and sets up his idols within his heart, and puts the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and then comes to a prophet in order to enquire of him concerning me. I, Yahuah, will answer him by myself: 8 I will set my face against that man, and I will make him to be a sign and a proverb to all who will pay attention; and I will cut him off from the midst of my people, and you will know that I am Yahuah. 9 If the prophet is deceived when he has spoken a thing, then I, Yahuah, have deceived that prophet; and I will stretch out my hand upon him; and I will destroy him from among the midst of my people, Israel. 10 They shall bear the punishment of their iniquity. The punishment of the prophet will be just like the punishment of anyone who seeks to enquire of him regarding me. 11 It will be this way so that the house of Israel may go no more astray from me; and so that they will not be polluted any more with of all their transgressions; and so that, instead, they can be my people, and I can be their Elohim, says Yahuah Elohim.

continuing with Luke Chapter 3...

4) Just as it is written of in the book... 976 biblos {bib'-los} - a written book or scroll... of the words of Isaiah the prophet, in which is said: The voice of one crying in the wilderness. Prepare the way of Yahuah. Make His paths straight.

5) Every valley shall be filled; and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight; and the rough ways made smooth;

6) And all flesh shall see the salvation of Yahuah.

*** This quote, in physical and metaphorical context, taken from...

Isaiah 40:3-5 3 The voice of him... The sound of the One... that crieth... who speaks out loudly and strongly... who proclaims... while in the wilderness... 4057 midbar {mid-bawr'} - while he is within the wilderness of Yerushalem; and also while he is in the figurative, metaphorical wilderness, or torah uninhabitable places of the hearts of those he is making this declaration to when he says...: Prepare ye the way of Yahuah! Make straight... 3474 yasher {yaw-shar'} - think rightly... make yourself think right... understand that you are not living according to torah and make straight... in the desert... 6160 arabah {ar-aw-baw'} - in the wilderness... in the desert plain... in the places within your hearts that are desolate and uninhabitable for Yahuah's torah... a highway... 4546 mecillah {mes-il-law'} - a raised way... a public road... for our God... 0430 `Elohim {el-o-heem'} - for our Ruler and Judge... for our Supreme Authority in any matter under consideration... 4 Every valley... 1516 gay` {gah'-ee} - every steep valley... every rut within the heart that has become a deep narrow ravine that has steep walls... shall be exalted... 5375 nasa` {naw-saw'} - will be lifted up... will be taken away..., and every mountain... 2022 har {har} and hill... 1389 gib`ah {ghib-aw'} - hill that is lower than a mountain... every high point of the heart used as a place for worship that is not according to torah; but is instead according to pride... shall be made low... 8213 shaphel {shaw-fale'} - will become low... will be caused to become humble... will be caused to become a shameful place...; and the crooked... 6121 `aqob {aw-kobe'} - the deceitful... the sly... the slippery... the stealthily treacherous and deceitful way of thinking and action taking that is intended to trap or beguile... shall be made straight... 4334 miyshowr {mee-shore'} - will be made level... will be made upright and stable..., and the rough places... 7406 rekec {reh'-kes} - the impassable places that cannot be traveled through... the places that completely impede spiritual growth and progress within the heart... will be made plain... 1237 biq`ah {bik-aw'} - will be caused to be a plain... will be caused to become a level valley that is easily walked through...; 5 And the glory... 3519 kabowd {kaw-bode'} - and the honor... the splendor... the majestic reputation... of Yahuah shall be revealed... 1540 galah {gaw-law'} - will reveal itself... will uncover itself... , and all flesh... and all mankind... shall see it... 7200 ra`ah [raw-aw'} - will see and observe it... will pay attention to what they have seen revealed and consider what they have seen ... together... 3162 yachad {yakh`-ad} - all of them together... Back to Luke Chapter 3

7) Then, he said to the multitude that came forward to be immersed by him for repentance and return to the Way that should have always been for Israel: O generation of vipers! Who has warned you to run away from the wrath that is coming?... How is it that you know that the wrath is coming if you are blind??? Who told you about it if you are truly listening to Yahuah's voice? I don't believe you comprehend the Way that you say you are returning to; but if you are, then...

8) Bring forward, for this reason, the fruits... 2590 karpos {kar-pos'} - produce the effects... show the results... that are worthy of your declaration of repentance... that are worthy of your declaration of return to the Way of thinking, feeling, and taking action regarding Yahuah and His torah that should have always been for you...; and do not even begin to say, within yourselves: We have Abraham for our father... 3962 pater {pat-ayr'} - We have Abraham as the originator of who and what we are as the chosen people of Yahuah... for I make this declaration to you who are saying this: That Yahuah is able, from these stones that are laying around us on the land, to raise up children of Abraham. ... Compare with Matthew chapter 3 and see that he is speaking to the multitude of Pharisees and Sadducees, whom he refers to as vipers, who are answering to their own perception of a ritual call to repentance and renewal - a mikva - according to the customs of the day that they were teaching... Which was foreign to the call of Yochanan to return to the Way that should have always been for Israel...

Matthew 3:4-9 4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. 5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, 6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. 7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: 9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that Elohim is able, from these stones, to raise up children of Abraham.

9) And now, also, an axe is laid to... is appointed, by Yahuah, to be applied to... the root... the offspring... the sprouts that grow from the roots... of the trees... metaphorical trees... speaking of those who grow up and out, with branches and shoots springing up from their roots... from which the forests of the fields... metaphorically, the populations of the earth... are grown... Every tree, therefore, which does not bring forth good fruit... the fruit, or produce of righteousness... Every one who is not producing, as a fruit of their life, what they should if they are an integral part of Yahuahs True Order for all things within His dominion... is cut down... is not allowed to live any longer as a part of the population within Yahuah's dominion... and thrown into the fire... to be burnt up... consumed... forever destroyed...

Matthew 12:22-37 22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil.. a devilish spirit..., who was blind, and dumb; and He healed him... This means that the blind and dumb one both spoke coherently and was able to see and recognize. 23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? 24 But when the Pharisees heard, they said, This one does not have any power to throw out devils, except for what is given to him by Beelzebub the prince of the devils... It is a trick of the devil!... 25 And Yahushua knew their thoughts, and said unto them: Every kingdom that is divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house that is divided against itself shall not stand: 26 So, if Satan throws out Satan and he is divided against himself, then how shall his kingdom be able to stand? 27 Consider this. For if I, because of the power of Beelzebub, throw out devils, then by whose power do your children throw them out? They, for this reason, shall be your judges; 28 But if it is true that I cast out devils because of the power of the Spirit of Yahuah, then the kingdom of Yahuah has come to you. 29 Or else consider how it is that anyone can enter into a strong man's house and plunder through his goods, unless he has first immobilized the strong man? It is only then that he will plunder through his house. 30 He who is not with me... who is not siding with me in my cause... is against me. Anyone who does not assemble together with me with me is scattered in all directions away from me. 31 So I say to you, that all types of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men; but the blasphemy... the slander... a manner of speaking that is injurious to the name and reputation of... the Holy Ghost... the pneuma... the Spirit... shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 So understand that if anyone speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but if anyone speaks in such a manner against the Holy Ghost... the Hagios Pneuma... the Spirit of the Order and Nature of Yahuah... the Most Holy, Rational Spirit that governs all thoughts, feelings, and decisions made within Yahuah's True Order... it shall not be forgiven him, not in this world order, nor in what is to come. 33 Either make the tree good, and it's fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt... profane... rotten..., and it's fruit corrupt... rotten... unfit for any use...: for the tree is known by the fruit it produces. 34 O generation of vipers! How is it possible that you can, while being evil, speak good things? For it is out from the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. 35 A good man, from out of the good treasure of the heart that is within him, brings forth good things; and an evil man, from out of the evil treasure that is within his heart, brings forth evil things. 36 More than this do I say unto you: For I tell you that for every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give an answer for it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.

Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of Yahuah Elohim is upon me; because Yahuah hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 He has sent me to proclaim the acceptable year of Yahuah, and the day of the vengeance of our Elohim. He has sent me to comfort all who mourn... who grieve... 3 He has sent me to appoint... to extend compassion... toward those who mourn in Zion. To give to them beauty for ashes... To given them beauty to replace the sack cloth and ashes of their grief and lamentations... To give to them the oil of joy for mourning... to give the soothing oil of joy to them in replacement for their sorrow and grief.... To give to them the garment... to give to them the mantle... the wrap... of praise... of songs of praise and thanksgiving... for... to replace the spirit of heaviness that has cloaked them..., so that they can be called trees of righteousness. So that they would be recognized as the planting of Yahuah. So that He can be glorified... So that He would be recognized and magnified in the esteem of those who would look at and consider this remnant made up of the chosen of Yahuah...

Isaiah 61:4-7 4 And they shall build... they will rebuild... the old wasted places, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the wasted cities, and the desolations of many generations. 5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. 6 But ye shall be named the Priests of Yahuah: men shall call you the Servants of our Elohim: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves. 7 For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.

Isaiah 61:8-9 8 For I, Yahuah, love justice. I hate robbery... I hate something plundered being used... for a burnt offering... that has been offered to me...; and I will direct their work in truth... I will oversee and instruct them as they carry on with the actions of their lives while they live according to True Truth within an order of things that does not know Truth..., and I will make an everlasting covenant with them... and I will make an eternal covenant with those of the remnant that I have chosen... who will be called "trees of righteousness"... 9 And their seed... their descendants... shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring will be recognized among the people. All that see them shall acknowledge them for who and what they are. They will all acknowledge that they are the seed... the seedline... All in the nations of people on the earth will recognize and acknowledge that they are from the lineage of descendancy of those who are redeemed by and united together with Yahushua and who are partakers together of the eternal covenant which was made with the remnant which have been chosen, and whom... Yahuah has blessed.

Ezekiel 17:24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I, Yahuah, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I, Yahuah, have spoken and have done this.

Isaiah 10:1 - 12:1 Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; 2 To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless! 3 And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory? 4 Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. 5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is My indignation. 6 I will send him against a hypocritical nation; and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge. For I will instruct him to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few. 8 For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings? 9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus? 10 As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols whose graven images did excel the graven images of Yerusalem and of Samaria, 11 Shall I not, just as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, do so to Yerusalem and her idols? 12 Wherefore it shall come to pass: when he has performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Yerusalem, that I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria and the glory of his high looks. 13 For he says: By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man: 14 And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped. 15 Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood. 16 Therefore shall Yahuah, the Elohim of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under this kings glory He shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire. 17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One will be for a flame: and this fire and flame will burn and devour this kings thorns and his briers in one day; 18 And it shall consume the glory of his forest... the fire and Flame of Yahuah will destroy the populations of people that the Assyrian dispersion of the Northern kingdom of Israel had started by causing the mixing of seed amongst the nations so long ago..., and of his fruitful field... and they will destroy all of the descendants that have been born because of the mixing of righteous with unrighteousness..., both soul and body: and they... the many who have been born into this profaned mixture... shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth. 19 And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them. 20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and those who have escaped the burning who are of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay... rely on... place their trust and confidence... upon him that smote them; but they will, instead stay... rely... trust... depend... upon Yahuah, the Holy One of Israel, in truth... sincerely... without pretense... 21 The remnant shall return. The remnant of Yacob will return unto the mighty El. 22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them shall return to Yahuah where they should have always remained. The consumption... the annihilation... the total destruction... decreed... decided on... that has been ordered to take place... shall overflow with righteousness. 23 For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption... an annihilation... a total destruction that has been determined to take place in the midst of all the land. 24 Therefore thus saith Yahuah, Elohim of hosts: O my people that dwell in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian. He shall strike you with a rod and shall lift up his staff against thee after the manner of Egypt. 25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease; and My anger will also cease in their destruction. 26 And the Elohim of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him... for the king of Assyria... according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb; and just like His rod was held up over the sea, in the same manner shall He lift it up after like He did to Egypt. 27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. 28 He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages: 29 They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled. 30 Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth. 31 Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee. 32 As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem. 33 Behold, Yahuah, Yahuah of hosts, shall lop.. will cut off... the bough... the shoots that spring up from the root... with terror... suddenly... without warning... The high ones of stature will be cut down and the haughty oness shall be humbled. 34 He shall cut down the thickets of the forest... the thick forests... the populations of peoples that the king of Assyria is responsible for having started through the capture and dispersion of the Northern kingdom of Israel... with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

Isaiah 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of Yahuah shall rest upon him. The spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Yahuah; 3 And that spirit shall make him to be of quick understanding in the fear of Yahuah; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes... according to the understanding that the eyes of the mind guided only by the rational spirit of mankind..., neither will he reprove... admonish... speak correction... after the hearing of his ears... in accordance with what he hears only with the hearing provided by the ears of the body as the wisdom of mankind is spoken all around him...; 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and he will reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he kill the wicked ones. 5 Righteousness shall be the girdle of... the covering that encircles and protects... his loins... his strength and progeny..., and faithfulness will be the girdle of his reins... faithfulness to Yahuah will be his motive for all that he does... 6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Yahuah, like the waters that cover the land under the sea. 10 And in that day there shall be a root... a shoot that has sprung up from the root... of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign... a rallying point... for the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest... his peace... his shalom... shall be glorious. 11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that Yahuah shall set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts... the accursed ones... of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. 13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off. Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. 14 But they both shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; and they shall spoil them of the east together. They shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. 15 And Yahuah shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea... the Red Sea...; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod... and cause all Israel, who are being called back to their land, to be able to cross that sea without having to remove their sandals... 16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left from Assyria... who will have survived, as a remnant, from what was started so long ago by the king of Assyria..., just like there was a highway for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

Jude 1:3-5 3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. 5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

Jude 1:8 8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

Jude 1:10-19 10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. 11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. 12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. 14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. 16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. 17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; 18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. 19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

10) Then the people asked him, by saying: Then what are we to do?... What are we to do to avoid the wrath that is coming?...

11) He answered them, by saying: He who has two coats... 5509 chiton {khee-tone'} - a tunic... an undergarment that is worn next to the skin... If there is someone among you who has two garments, then he... should give one of them to someone who has none; and if there is someone among you who has food, then he should do the same thing.

12) Then, publicans... 5057 telones {tel-o'-nace} - tax or toll collectors, or those employed by such a collector or the head of the agency through which such collections are made... well known as a class of people who were hated by all, because of the office and because of their individual greed, deception, and the ruthless, unforgiving harshness with which they did their jobs... came to him in order to be immersed... for repentance and so that they could be forgiven of their sins...; and they said to him: Master... Master Teacher..., what are we to do?.. We are hated by everyone for what we do. So, what are we to do in light of the repentance that you are calling us toward?...

13) He said, in answer to them: Do not demand more than what you have been appointed to collect... Collect only what you are supposed to in accordance with the orders you have been given and the laws of the land...

15) Now, because the people were in a state of expectancy, and because of the fact that all men were musing within their hearts regarding Yochanan; and trying to decide within themselves about whether he was the Anointed One or not,

20 Herod added one more thing to the list that was worse than all the others. He shut Yochanan... the prophet who went before the face of Yahuah... up in prison... in retaliation for being called to account for his deeds...

Note: It must be considered that those who asked these questions of Yochanan the Immerser were all members of the twelve tribes of Israel... Including the soldiers, whether they were of the Levite guard or employed in the Roman armies...

NOTE:*** Attempting to trace, through the writings found in O.T. scripture, complete and irrefutable proofs for this account of lineage and that which is rendered by Matthew, I have so far found to be impossible. Inconsistencies appear to be unexplainable without the addition, if any can be found, of historical context from writings and records found outside of the canonized scriptures. To date I have not found an exhaustive study of the lineage of Joseph or Miriam that has been published in any form. Any form of study, and of understanding the significance that may be gained beyond this point, will have to take place, if Yahuah allows it, over a greater expanse of time.

These inconsistencies have been the basis of arguments of the impossibility of Yahushua being the Anointed One of Yahuah due to the validity of either lineage being able to be irrefutably proven past King David. No definitive link to King David and any later descendancy is able to be found, by me thus far, that cannot be argued against because of this. Two other hypothetical arguments that can be found by those who have made a study of this are concerning the Matthew account being of the lineage of Mariam even though it is touted as being that of Joseph; and the Luke account being truly that of Joseph as Luke is reprted to have written. Both of these accounts are supposedly to show that both lines of descent emerge from the house of David; and therefore are prophetically accurate as far as Yahushua being born through the lineage of David on his mothers' side. Both lineages depict the same record from Abraham to King David. From there the two separate through Solomon and Nathan and do not intertwine until Shealtiel and Zerubbabel are named within each account. However ,neither account matches up consistently with the record found in 1 Chronicles as it pertains to any descendants of Zerubbabel. In Nehemiah it is confirmed, during the reign of Darius, that Zerubbabel is indeed the son of Shealtiel. The sons of Zerubbabel cannot be adequately confirmed. Beyond that, at least so far, I have found no further expansion in my understanding of the descendancies of Joseph or Mariam.

Yet another argument that has surfaced over the years is that of Miriam being only a surrogate . Used by our Creator for the purpose of facilitating the birth of Yahushua in the manner that all men are born into this world. Who was caused to exist by His Father, Yahuah, in the form of a zygote already formed and placed within the womb of Miriam. The cellular structures which were then formed through the natural process of child bearing then became a fetus which grew to become the baby Yahushua. The baby was then born in the customary manner. With no lineal ties whatsoever to his mother from the aspect of a DNA strain; and without a fleshly father, this argument supposedly fulfills the prophecies of the Anointed One being a seed of, or a descendant of, the woman . Which can be read in Genesis 3:14; and of the Anointed One of Yahuah coming through the lineage of the house of David as is read of in Isaiah chapter 9; Isaiah chapter 22; and Zechariah chapter 12 with no technical ties of bloodline. This argument does not address the issue raised by the promise to Abraham regarding the bloodline of the Anointed One through Isaac...
