James (Yacob) Chapter 5 (Expounded)

James Chapter 5

1) So come now, you rich men who boast of your capabilities and rejoice in the profit gained through your efforts, weep and howl because of the miseries that will overtake you.

2) Your abundance of wealth and possessions are corrupted... 4595 sepo {say'-po} - your hoarded stores of goods have become rotten... and your garments... 2440 himation {him-at'-ee-on} - your inner and outer garments... are motheaten... 4598 setobrotos {say-tob'-ro-tos}...

3) Your gold and silver is cankered... 2728 katioo {kat-ee-o'-o} - covered with a coating of oxidation and impurities...; and, the rust that covers those things made of gold or silver will bear record against you; and, it will consume your flesh as if it were fire... The loss of those things that you have acquired and hoarded with such selfishness as your motivation, and because of your intimate associative friendship with the world that does not know or recognize Yahweh, His Truth, or His Order, will eat at your fleshly nature like a fire that consumes fuel... For you, in trusting the wisdom of the fleshly nature of all mankind, have accumulated and stored up those treasures, in that manner, for yourself for the last days... for what you thought would give you ease during the last days of your life...

4) Look! See and recognize that the wages, of the laborers who have mowed down your fields of grain have earned, which you have held back through fraud, speak out with a loud voice; and the cries for vengeance and justice by those who have done the mowing and have been robbed by you have entered the ears of the Sovereign owner and Commander of the armies of heaven.

5) You have lived a soft and luxurious life on the earth, and you have given yourself over to the dominion of the pursuits of pleasure. You have fed your hearts cravings and desires just like the fattening that takes place in a day of the life of a sheep destined for slaughter.

6) You have condemned... 2613 katadikazo {kat-ad-ik-ad'-zo} - you have seen yourself as fit and able to give an opinion of judgment against... and you have murdered... 5407 phoneuo {fon-yoo'-o} - you have killed... you have commited murder against... those who are honorable and guiltless by reason of your impatient actions of selfishness and greed as you deprive them of their due;... for they starve or are not able to meet the necessary needs of their own lives... and they do not oppose you or try to resist you.

7) Be patient for this reason. Do not behave in this manner any longer, brethren, until the coming arrival of the Sovereign to whom we belong... See this with the eyes of your mind as it is being transformed by the Spirit of Yahweh that is now dwelling within you...The farmer and tiller of the soil waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and he exhibits long patience in waiting for it to be produced, until he receives the early... rains that typically fall between October on... and the latter rain... in the months of March and April...

8) You, brethren, be patient in the same way; and, make... cause the will that is within you to force... your hearts... the core of thoughts and feelings and decisions that you make everyday... to be steadfastly set and stable, because the time of the arrival of the Master, to Whom you now belong, comes near.

9) Do not groan within yourselves against one another, brethren, so that a judgment of condemnation will not be passed on you. Be aware of the fact that the judge stands just outside the door.

10) Take the example of the prophets, my brethren, who have spoken in the authority of the name of Yahweh, as an example of what suffering, affliction, and patience is all about.

11) Understand this! That we speak of those who endure such affliction... we talk about those who willfully go through whatever it takes to endure trouble and distress and strife because of their obedience to the authority of Yahweh... as being happy or blessed. You have heard of the patience of Yob, and you have seen the aim and purpose of Yahweh in his life; and you know that Yahweh is very kind, and full of pity and merciful;

12) But, above all else, my brethren, do not swear, or promise, or threaten anything; and then call upon heaven or earth as witnesses to the truth of your promise. Nor make any other sort of pledge or promise with a solemn appeal to Yahweh to bear witness to your determination to speak the truth or accomplish a thing. Instead, simply let your answer of yes, be yes; and, your answer of no, be no; so that you will not fall into subjection to the dominion and power that leads to condemnation... by dependance upon anything other than what you yourself know to be truth...

13) Is anyone among you suffering hardship and trouble in the course of his everyday life? Let him pray... Let him ask Yahweh for provision and relief... Is anyone among you cheerful? Let him sing and celebrate the praises of Yahweh in song from the vibrance of his heart.

14) Is anyone among you weak, or feeble, or powerless?... are any of you unable or unwilling to get up and move around because of infirmity and sickness in the body?... Let him call the elders of the assembly/ekklesia to himself;... because he cannot go to them due to such weakness in his body... and let them make prayer for him, anointing him with oil through the authority of the name of the Master;

15) And, the faithful, fully convinced, obedient actions of asking for healing from Yahweh will save the sick, and the Master will cause the feeble and strengthless one to rise up; and, if he has been the cause of errors against Yahweh's Order of Things, then he will be forgiven.

16) Confess faults... 3900 paraptoma {par-ap'-to-mah} - acknowledge lapses or deviations from the truth of Yahweh's Order and salvation and the righteous behavior that should be normal as a result... to one another openly, and pray... ask Yahweh for intervention, healing, forgiveness, and restoration to what should be normal for those within His Order... for one another, so that you can be healed from these faults. The power that is in operation because of someone who is obediently making prayers and supplications, as a man who is as he ought to be before Yahweh, is very strong.

17) Eliyah... meaning: "my El, or, My Ruler and Judge, is Yahweh"... was a man who was of similar feelings or affections like we have within our own hearts, and he prayed to Yahweh, asking that no rain would fall on the land; and, no rain fell from the sky for three and a half years;

18) And, he prayed again to Yahweh, and the sky brought rain, and the earth produced her fruit from the fields, and orchards, and vines.

19) Brethren, if anyone of you is led away from the truth of Yahweh and His Order, and someone turns him back;

20) Let him know, that he who causes someone in error to turn back to the Truth of Yahweh and His Order of Things in the course and conduct of everyday life, will rescue a living soul from death... he will rescue that living soul from losing the life force illumination of the soul and mind that can only come from Yahweh; and will cause that living soul to be rescued from the ultimate destruction of all who oppose Yahweh's Order in their rebellion against True Truth...
